You are cordially invited to attend a free conference hosted by the statewide Community Preservation Coalition for Community Preservation Committees (and people from communities contemplating adoption of the CPA) in the Southeastern Massachusetts region (from Plymouth to Nantucket, including Cape Cod). The conference is intended to provide municipal governments with tools and strategies for implementing the Community Preservation Act (CPA).

Morning Session: Introductory Remarks, CPC Discussion, and Preservation Easements

A continental breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 AM. The speaking program will begin at 9:00 AM with introductory remarks by Dorrie Pizzella, Executive Director of the Community Preservation Coalition and an overview of CPA implementation statewide.

Following the introductory program there will be an open discussion in which members of each of the Community Preservation Committees will share their respective experiences in implementing the Act. Please be prepared to talk for 5 minutes about what your community has been doing over the past year. We will use the remainder of this session for questions and answers and sharing of ideas and best practices.

The second morning session will be led by Michael Steinitz of the Massachusetts Historical Commission. He will discuss historic preservation easements and give advice to CPA communities for creating their own easements.

After lunch (provided), there will be a session for those communities that will be voting on the CPA in the coming months. It will focus on campaign strategies and lessons learned from other CPA campaigns.
